Characteristics

The medlar tree thrives in temperate climates and in warm, subtropical areas with plenty of rainfall and high relative humidity. Although it is resistant to high temperatures and cold, it is sensitive to winter frost and strong north winds and drought resistant. Harvest begins when the fruits are ripe, from April to June. Medlars are poorly maintained (1-2 weeks) at low temperatures and easily bruised.
